hi, i’m

Max Chalekson

Researcher in computational social science, human-AI collaboration, and AI-assisted scientific discovery.

I am a researcher at the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO), working with Dr. Evey Huang and Prof. Brian Uzzi on how people and AI systems generate, develop, and evaluate ideas in collaborative settings.

My research combines large language models, multimodal data, network analysis, and computational methods to study team communication, creativity, and knowledge creation. More broadly, I’m interested in how AI can help us understand human collaboration and participate meaningfully in scientific and creative processes.

Outside of research, I’m usually bouldering, distance running, taking portraits, or cooking.
